Jesus started this farm 28 years ago, improving it at the beginning with help from microcredit loans. This enabled him to sow the entire farm with coffee and begin seeing success as a coffee producer. It did require perseverance and dedication, but now they feel they’ve been able to pull it off. The kids are now studying, and they have been able to create employment for people in the area.
Jesus and his kids take care of processing the coffee, a task that starts about 4 hours after the cherries are picked. They are depulped and placed in a cement tank to ferment dry for about 36 hours. Once the fermentation is complete, they wash the coffee thoroughly and then move the coffee to the patio for 7 days. The coffee is frequently turned on the patio to ensure even drying, and then the coffee is stored until the family is ready to deliver it to our warehouse.
